Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (APPI)The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (APPI) works on oversight, development and coordination of adolescent pregnancy prevention activities. The goal of APPI is to reduce the number of pregnancies among teenagers and adolescents by creating awareness among them of contraceptive services, improved decision making and abstinence.

AIDS Prevention provides prevention of HIV/AIDS through risk reduction promotion, health education and training, and resource distribution to people at risk and service providers. This is done by community-based organizations, media campaigns, conferences and workshops, youth peer education, HIV counseling and testing at AIDS Prevention Centers, and a statewide AIDS hotline.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)This program provides monthly cash assistance to eligible families. It is based on the goals of assisting economically dependent and at-risk families to become self supporting, enhancing the well-being of children, and on assisting families near the poverty level to remain self-sufficient.
West Virginia Medicaid
West Virginia's Medicaid works effectively for low-income families by giving them access to best medical facilities by paying their medical expenses including foster and adoptive children, pregnant women and women having breast or cervical cancer and for those people whose income is not enough to meet the cost of required medical services.
To be eligible for Medicaid you should belong to any of the following category:
- pregnant
- over the age of 65
- a child or teenager age 18 or under
- been diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer
- need nursing home care
- disabilities
- blind
